Released in November 2020, Blue Reflection Second Light is a visually stunning role-playing game from Japanese developer Koei Tecmo. The game puts players in the shoes of two teenage girls, Hinako Shirai and Yuzuki Shijou, who use the power of emotions to protect their school from mysterious creatures. With its vibrant anime-style graphics, engaging narrative and engaging combat system, Blue Reflection Second Light offers gamers an immersive and enjoyable experience.
The story revolves around Hinako and Yuzuki’s adventures as they use their newfound magical powers to battle monsters known as “Fragments” that are wreaking havoc on their high school. They are assisted by the mysterious and powerful entities known as “Reflectors,” mysterious beings they can transform into to fight the Fragments. Through interactions with other characters at the school, players will unravel mysteries and discover secrets that could determine their fate.
The narrative of Blue Reflection Second Light is compelling and engaging, with characters having realistic motivations for their actions, conversations that draw out interesting themes such as friendship, family relationships and teenage angst. While some moments of melodrama may be cheesy for some players, for most part it’s an enjoyable ride through this unique world where emotions can fuel magic.
Blue Reflection Second Light follows a traditional JRPG turn-based combat system with elements of strategy thrown in. Players must choose which action they want each character to take on their turn while also considering distance between characters, enemy placements and various elemental effects. It all culminates into powerful combos when multiple attacks land at once during battle sequences.
Outside of combat are various side activities such as talking with NPCs or exploring dungeons for items which rewards players with currency to buy new equipment
