
Kirby and the Forgotten Land, known as Kirby and the Isolated Isles in Japan, is an action-adventure game developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Switch console. The game was released in 2020 as part of the Kirby franchise, which celebrates its 30th anniversary. In this game, players take control of Kirby and venture through the forgotten lands to bring back all of Leon’s soul pieces while also exploring various islands along the way. Along with side-scrolling platforming levels, there are also some minigames included.
Gameplay
Kirby and the Forgotten Land offers classic side-scrolling platforming gameplay set in a larger world where players can explore every corner of each stage. Players take control of Kirby and navigate through islands using Kirby’s signature abilities such as his ability to inhale enemies and objects or fly using his wings. Players can also use a variety of power-ups found throughout each stage to give Kirby extra abilities like strength or size increase. Along with exploration stages this game also includes a selection of minigames such as snowball fights or memory puzzles. As players progress through each level, they must collect Leon’s soul pieces scattered throughout them before reaching the end of each island.
Graphics
Kirby and the Forgotten Land features vibrant 3D graphics that adds life to every island explored by players. The game has highly detailed textures on characters, backgrounds, and other elements making it look crisp on any TV or monitor screen size. Each island is filled with hidden secrets waiting to be discovered while colorful environments provide a pleasant visual experience during exploration.
