Story and Characters
Destroy All Humans is an action-adventure video game developed by Pandemic Studios and published by THQ. Players take the role of an alien named Crypto-137 as he sets out to invade Earth, wreak havoc, and collect DNA samples by any means necessary. Throughout the game, Crypto engages in numerous battles against enemies from both the human forces and his own kind as he sets out to fulfill his mission. The game’s story is told through various cutscenes, dialogues, and cinematic sequences which help give a sense of personality to the characters and provide an immersive experience for the player.
In addition to the main character Crypto, there are several supporting characters that help bring life to the world of Destroy All Humans. These include Crypto’s commander Orthopox 13; his consort Pox; agent Silhouette; four robotic minions – Furon, Cryptosporidium, Blisk, and Devastator; and numerous other human enemies that stand in Crypto’s way. Through their interactions with one another, they create a rich tapestry of dialogue which helps further propel the narrative forward.
Gameplay
At its core, Destroy All Humans is a hack ‘n’ slash game where players must use various weapons such as laser guns or advanced psychokinetic abilities in order to fight their way through levels filled with deadly obstacles and daunting foes. The gameplay is fairly straightforward – but can become challenging at times – as players must navigate through various hazards while fighting off hoards of humans who are trying to bring them down along with their alien brethren. As such, it is important for players to plan ahead when engaging in combat in order to ensure survival against overwhelming odds.
