Start With Two Compatible Species
The first major step for breeding Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet is to identify two compatible species to mate. In order for two species to successfully mate and form an egg, they must come from different egg groups. To identify which group they belong in, open up the menu and look under ‘Info’. Once you have identified the correct group, pair up one pokemon from each egg group who have similar personalities or types (fire + water). This will ensure that their offspring will receive the best attributes possible.
When selecting which pokemon to breed together it is important to ensure that they are both healthy and happy. A pokemon’s level of happiness can be seen by checking its stats page. If a pokemon’s happiness stat is below 50%, it will not produce offspring when paired with a compatible partner.

Temperature plays a large role in breeding Pokemon as extreme temperatures can make mating impossible or result in a lower quality egg being produced. Aim for temperatures around 70-80°F (or 21-27°
