Taiko No Tatsujin, also known as Taiko Drum Master, is a rhythm game series developed and published by Bandai Namco Entertainment. The franchise has become a global phenomenon with millions of fans around the world. Recently, the most recent installment of the series was released on the Nintendo Switch: Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. This game builds on the success of its predecessors while adding exciting new features that make it more enjoyable than ever before.
Story & Characters
Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival follows the same basic premise as other rhythm games, tasking players to time their hits to on-screen cues in order to score points. The game offers several modes that allow players to experience different types of content. For example, Don-Chan Quest is an adventure mode in which players guide Don-Chan on an action-packed quest through several stages filled with obstacles and enemies that must be overcome by successfully playing through several musical stages.
Players can choose from a variety of characters from the Taiko no Tatsujin universe such as Don-Chan (the mascot of the franchise), Pai-Chan (Don’s friend), Osu (a mad scientist) and other colorful characters. All characters have unique abilities that can help you progress through each stage faster and gain more points.
Gameplay
As expected with a rhythm game, hitting notes at the right timing is key when it comes to progressing through each song stage in Taiko no Tatsujin: Rhythm Festival. Different note shapes will appear on screen and require different inputs in order to hit them correctly – sometimes you’ll need to press buttons or flick Joycons depending on what type of control scheme you’re using.
