Pokemon Go has been a huge hit with fans of all ages since it was launched in 2016. The game has seen several updates and expansions over the years, and in 2018 Niantic released the popular Celebi A Ripple In Time Special Research. This research was a set of eight different tasks for players to complete over the course of the event. Completing this research allowed players to catch a Shiny Celebi, an extremely rare version of the mythical Pokemon.
Objective
The objective of the Celebi A Ripple In Time Special Research was to get players to explore their surroundings, collect items, battle in gyms, and catch certain Pokemon while they completed tasks related to time travel. The eight tasks required players to spin PokeStops, catch Grass-type Pokemon, use several Pinap Berries while catching wild Pokemon, battle in Gyms, earn rewards from Gym battles, evolve Eevee into one its evolutions (Jolteon, Vaporeon or Flareon), hatch eggs from incubators and finally catch Celebi.
Rewards
Once they completed all eight tasks of the Celebi A Ripple In Time Special Research players were rewarded with an encounter with a Shiny Celebi. This rare variant had different coloured leaves than regular Celebi’s which made it very sought after by collectors. Players also earned XP rewards for completing each individual task as well as Stamps which counted towards their research breakthroughs.
