Animal Crossing New Horizons has been a massive success since its release in March 2020. The game has captivated players of all ages with its charming and relaxing social simulation gameplay. One of the main aspects of the game is fishing, and players can often catch rare items like scallops and mermaid-themed clothing. These items usually fetch a high price on the in-game market, making them highly sought after by avid collectors.
Pascal Spawn Times
One of the rarest ways to obtain scallops is from Pascal the otter, who randomly spawns while fishing. Pascal can appear up to three times a day and will trade scallops in exchange for sea-themed furniture or items related to Redd’s Treasure Trawler mini game. Knowing when Pascal appears can be a crapshoot, as his appearance is unpredictable and random. However, players have found that he respawns more frequently at certain times such as early morning or late afternoon/evening.
Additionally, there have been reports of Pascal appearing during rainstorms or during periods where players fish en mass due to an increase in online activity. It is unclear whether these conditions were intentional design choices on Nintendo’s part or just lucky occurrences, but they should be taken into account when trying to track down Pascal.
Mermaid Clothing Rewards
In addition to collecting scallops from Pascal, players have another option for obtaining mermaid-themed clothing: completing mermaid DIY projects! From time to time, mermaid DIY recipes will randomly appear at either Nook’s Cranny or at the Resident Services building depending on where you are playing in your game world. If you manage to find one of these recipes you can craft some unique clothing that would otherwise be unavailable for purchase.
