Nintendo fans have a lot to be excited about this week as the beloved Animal Crossing character Leif has made his grand entrance into New Horizons. Players can now make their islands look even more beautiful than ever before by utilizing Leif’s new weeding service. Despite the convenience of this new feature, many players have taken to social media to express their dissatisfaction with its accompanying price tag.
What Does Weeding Do?
Weeding is a way for players to clean up their island and make it look even more attractive and inviting to visiting tourists. Doing so involves pulling out weeds that randomly appear on the ground and can often become an eyesore if left unattended. Now with Leif, players no longer need to worry about having unsightly weeds cluttering up their island as he’ll take care of it all for you.
According to an official Nintendo Tweet, Leif will “weed out any pesky plants from your island for a fee of 500 Nook Miles each day—collecting five pieces of fruit in exchange.” This means that players will not only have to pay for the service but also give up some of their hard-earned froot as well.
Reactions From Animal Crossing Fans
Many Animal Crossing fans took to Twitter upon hearing the news and were quick to point out how expensive this feature was compared to free alternatives. Some expressed how unimpressed they were with having no choice but to pay such a high-price tag for something they should already be able to do in-game.
“500 Nook Miles is ridiculous, especially considering it’s something we should be able to do without shelling out money,” tweeted one user. “Leif certainly isn’t doing us any favors
